Update your alumni page

Logging in

To update your alumni page, go to the control panel in a new tab or window and log in (your log in information is provided by the English Department administration. If you have forgotten your username and/or password, please email the English Dept. Webmaster

Select the "EDIT" tab, and then select your name under "Edit Weblog Entries." It will be the only available link.

Now you are in the edit pane. You can edit the various fields of information, however, DO NOT change the content in the "Title" field.

You can open or collapse the fields by clicking the "+" or "-" button next to the field name

Formatting

toolbar

To format text you can either use the formatting toolbar at the top of the page as seen above. To use the toolbar highlight the text you wish to format and press the button for the desired formatting. This will automatically create HTML tags around your selected text. To change formatting delete the opening and closing tags on either side of your text and repeat the process for the desired effect. You may find it easier to collapse all of the fields you are not editing so that the formatting toolbar is visable on your screen while you are editing the various fields. You can also manually enter HTML.

The formatting buttons that you will use are "b" for bold or "i" for italics. You can also use the image, email, and link buttons to format those respective items.

When listing your vita or publication items, you may wish to put two spaces between each item to make it easier to differentiate between them.

Change your image

To change your picture, you can either email an attached image to the English Dept. Webmaster that is at least 150 pixels wide and 200 pixels tall and of good quality, or, if you are feeling technologically competent, you can change your picture immediately by hosting it yourself.

To host your own photo you will need public webhosting. All students and faculty members of Ohio University have this available through CNS. Once you have your hosting figured out, you will need to put two versions of your image on the server. Once is the main image that should be 150 pixels wide by 200 pixels tall and the other should be 38 pixels wide by 51 pixels tall. In the "URL path to your image" you will need to enter the HTTP location of the large image on the server. Try navigating to your image through your web browser before entering this link. Likewise you will need to do the same for the "URL path to your thumbnail" field. If you can't get this to work for any reason, just leave the field blank or enter in the link that was there originally and email us for assistance.
