Peter Vandenberg

Description

Peter Vandenberg is the current chair of Writing, Rhetoric, and Discourse Department at De Paul University. He is also the founding director of DePaul’s University Center for Writing-based Learning. Vandenburg received his M.A. in English from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and earned his Ph.D. in English in Rhetoric and Composition from Texas Christian University. His current research includes theories of composing, the preparation of writing tutors and teachers, and new media production, especially the use of webcam technology for tutoring writing, In addition to editing two books on composition theory, he has produced video projects on literacy issues. In an interview with Kairos, he comments on the aim of the literacy video projects, relating it to his own study that he conducted three years ago: “we’re really hoping that we’ll encourage the academic contributors into getting outside of their comfort zones and talking to people who are working in genres that are not academic or not academically created.”
