Purple Chopsticks
Delicious seasonal food with a focus on locally grown ingredients. The menu changes periodically (during solar eclipses, or for no reason at all), but sample dishes include Seafood Crepes, Nori Sushi, and Veggie Pesto Pasta. Entrees – $14-18

Court Street area
Downtown Athens, centered around Court St., is small but packed with lots of great locally owned places to grab a cup of coffee or a bite to eat. Some of our favorites are:

  • Bagel Street Deli – Good bagels with a wide variety of excellent toppings.
  • Brennen’s – A nice place for good coffee and sandwiches.
  • The Donkey Café – Hands down the best coffee in Athens, and a great atmosphere to boot! Kelley and I love the Donkey. (17 ½ W Washington)
  • Goodfellas – A New York style pizzeria with two downtown locations.
  • Perk’s – A pretty good standard coffee shop.
