ENG 691: Fiction Seminar
Day: Th; Time: 7:10pm - 11:00pm; Room: Ellis 203
Instructor: Joan Connor
Course Description
I have begun to think that the most determining rhetorical device in fiction writing is point-of-view. It is the most difficult to master in part due to an inconsistent critical vocabulary. My hope is that through our reading and writing this term that we will begin to clarify the technical difficulties in mastering point-of-view and develop a workable vocabulary to open the topic. Students will generate an introductory essay and three to four short stories, one possibly in revision.
Course Readings
- Points-of-View, and anthology of short fiction
- Transparent Minds
