Presentations and Conferences

The Department of English hosts several readings, presentations, and a conference that allow our faculty and students to present their work and to bring in outside writers and scholars to share their experiences.

The Chestnut Reading Series

is a quarterly graduate-student run reading series that showcases the academic work of two graduate students each quarter. Current students are encouraged to submit abstracts to the series coordinators. [more]

The Dogwood Bloom Reading Series

is a graduate-student run forum where second-year graduate students with a creative writing focus present their work quarterly. [more]

The Shakespeare Studies Lecture

Annually, the English Department invites a preeminent scholar in Shakespeare studies to present a lecture on his or her current work. [more]

The Spring Literary Festival

Since 1986, The Spring Literary Festival has featured some of the world's finest, most distinguished writers of poetry, fiction and non-fiction. The three-day festival is held in May on the Ohio University campus in Athens, Ohio. [more]

Writers' Harvest

Three renowned local writers read from their work yearly at a benefit hosted by Ohio University’s Program in Creative Writing. The benefit is part of Writers' Harvest, the nation’s largest reading series working to help fight hunger. [more]
