Literacy and Technology Learning Lab

Ellis 18 is a walk-in computer lab for English undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty and staff. The lab is open Monday and Wednesday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:10 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 7:40 p.m., and is closed to general classroom use on Fridays for training and workshop sessions. Computer Consultants are available to help faculty members update their faculty web pages; announce events, publications, and awards on the English Department website; plan conference presentations using PowerPoint, iMovie, or other new and exciting programs; and incorporate technology such as blogs, wikis, websites, and videos into classroom pedagogy. We offer a series of workshops throughout the quarter. An updated list of trainings can be found on the "Tools for Teaching Associates" web page. Participants who attend our trainings and workshops are encouraged to leave feedback by completing a brief survey, which is located here.

In addition, the lab is available for instructors who wish to use computers to teach a portion of their class. There is a sign-up sheet in the lab, or you can see one of the lab consultants in order to request a time to bring your class. Instructors must sign up for the lab at least 24 hours before the requested time.

Faculty, staff, and graduate students have printing privileges in 18, and students enrolled in an English course being taught in Ellis 19 or 20 can also print in this lab during the quarter they are enrolled.
