Preparing for the Semesters Transition
Majors in English
With the start of Fall Quarter 2012, Ohio University will transition to semesters, and a new English major will be available to OU students. Please read the following for important information regarding these changes.
Transition Advising
Athens Campus transition advising is underway, and all current majors in the English Department should complete the process as soon as possible. Students who will not graduate before fall 2012 must complete a Transitional Degree Completion Plan (TDCP) before their advisors will release the priority registration advising hold for this term. Regional Campus Students: With some exceptions, Student Services will advise you, and you will be contacted by the staff in that office. If you are contacted by a faculty member regarding advising, then make an appointment with him or her.
Preparing for Your Advising Appointment
Your TDCP is intended to show how you will graduate on time after the transition. While the Department will only guarantee that you meet minimum major requirements (including College and University requirements), you may have second major, a minor, or a certificate that should be built into your plan as well. Please bring the following to your appointment:
A current DARS: download and print by going to http://www.ohio.edu/registrar/darsonline.cfm. Request a new audit, open your DARS, and click the “.pdf” button to get to a printable copy. The Q2S checklist for any minor or certificate program you wish to complete, if any: http://www.ohio.edu/q2s/minors_certificates.cfm. The major requirements for a second major, if any. Consult the appropriate department and college websites for Q2S transition materials. (Students with a second major in the College of Arts & Sciences will complete one TDCP signed by both major departments.)

At the Q2S advising appointment, students and their transition advisor should complete both a TDCP and the appropriate major worksheet.
